Officina Stellare Selected for ASI’s PRISMA Second Generation Mission Through New Leonardo Contract

Officina Stellare has been awarded a new contract by Leonardo for the supply of optical systems for PRISMA Second Generation (PRISMA SG), the Italian Space Agency’s (ASI) next-generation hyperspectral Earth observation mission.
The contract, valued at €1.84 million and spanning approximately 33 months, marks another important milestone in Officina Stellare’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-performance optical technologies for institutional space programs.
As part of the program, Officina Stellare will work alongside Leonardo during the co-engineering phase of optical systems with apertures of up to 700 mm. The company will then take full responsibility for the manufacturing of these optical systems for the various development and qualification models required by the mission.
PRISMA SG represents the evolution of Italy’s flagship hyperspectral Earth observation mission. Designed to ensure operational continuity while significantly improving performance, the mission will provide increasingly accurate hyperspectral data to support environmental monitoring, scientific research, natural resource management, and a wide range of institutional applications.
Leveraging its expertise in precision optics and mission-critical technologies, Officina Stellare will contribute to the development of the next-generation hyperspectral payload, helping advance Europe’s Earth observation capabilities and delivering greater value to institutions, the scientific community, and society at large.

Officina Stellare has signed a new contract with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) for the EarthNext programme, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in the development of advanced space missions and next-generation Earth Observation technologies.

Developed in partnership with Skyloom Global LLC, an IonQ company, these terminals will enable ultra-fast inter-satellite and space-to-ground data transfer, contributing to what is set to become the world’s first commercial Earth Observation constellation equipped with such advanced optical inter-satellite communication capabilities.

We are proud to announce that Logic, part of the Officina Stellare Group, has been awarded a €1.2 million contract by Otto Aerospace for the development and supply of the Steering Control System for the new Phantom 3500 aircraft.
Building on decades of expertise in flight-critical control systems and avionics electronics, Logic will develop a tailored solution designed to meet the program’s demanding requirements for safety, reliability, weight optimization, and operational performance.

Officina Stellare expands its technological footprint with the acquisition of Mavel S.r.l.

Officina Stellare has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Mavel S.r.l., a high-tech company specialized in the design and manufacturing of rare-earth-free electric motors for Aerospace and Defense applications, as well as AI-based engineering design systems.
This strategic transaction, whose closing is expected by October 2026, subject to the fulfilment of customary conditions precedent, including authorization from the competent authorities under the Golden Power regulation, strengthens Officina Stellare’s position in highly innovative and critical technology domains, expanding the Group’s capabilities in electrification systems for avionics, underwater platforms and unmanned systems, while accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence into engineering and product development processes.

Officina Stellare is pleased to announce the signing of a new contract with the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) for the design and development of a fully equipped, transportable Optical Ground Station (OGS) dedicated to Lasercom and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) applications.
Awarded through a competitive procedure and funded by the National Hub of Excellence in Quantum Communications, supported by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the European Union (NextGenerationEU/PRTR), the project reinforces Officina Stellare’s position as a leading European provider of advanced ground‑segment solutions for lasercom.
The OGS will be designed for full interoperability with EuroQCI and compatibility with ESA and EU QKD developments, including the EAGLE‑1 and SAGA satellite missions. Its transportable configuration will enable flexible deployment across Spain to support ICFO’s operational needs.

The €4.8M agreement will enable the development of advanced transmission and reception systems for satellite quantum communications, strengthening Europe’s secure connectivity infrastructure.

Officina Stellare signs new contract with Leonardo S.p.A. for high-resolution optical systems

Officina Stellare secures a major contract with Leonardo for the supply of an initial series of optical assemblies for Leonardo’s high-resolution space telescopes for Earth Observation from low Earth orbit.
These advanced optical sensors are also intended for integration within Leonardo’s proprietary satellite constellation, one of the most comprehensive and significant Earth Observation programs in Europe.
The contract, valued at approximately €9.2 million over three years, includes not only the development of cutting-edge optical assemblies, but also engineering activities for the industrialization of large-scale integration processes. The first flight model is already being delivered for #PLATiNO3, a mission led by the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI).
This milestone reinforces the long-standing partnership between Leonardo and Officina Stellare, while confirming our leadership in the design and production of multi-mission optics and payloads for Earth Observation.
