Earth Observation is one of the building blocks of modern Space Economy. The availability of high-resolution multi or hyper-spectral satellite images from orbit, consent operators to gather a wide range of information and data, including data for modern defense, businesses, environmental monitoring, enabling organizations to track daily changes on the Earth’s surface with sub-meter resolutions.

Space Situational Awareness (SSA)

Space Situational Awareness (SSA) is the ability to accurately characterize the space environment and activities in space. Civil SSA combines positional information on the trajectory of objects in orbit (mainly using optical telescopes and radars) with information on space weather. Military SSA applications also include characterizing objects in space, their capabilities, and potential threats.

SSA requires a network of globally distributed sensors as well as data sharing between satellite owner-operators and sensor networks. SSA also embodies the foundation of space sustainability as it enables safe and efficient space operations and promotes stability reducing mishaps and mistrust.

Optical Ground Systems

Officina Stellare is also a leading name in the design and manufacturing of in high-end, turnkey products Optical Ground Stations (OGS) for Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Laser Ranging, and/or Scientific Research. Defense

Optical systems as precision assets for the Defense Industry

The know-how gained in Research and Development of scientific instrumentation has enabled Officina Stellare to deliver high-tech optical systems for the Defense industry and specifically for high-speed video-tracking infrastructures at strategic test facilities.

Officina Stellare has long been a qualified supplier of optical systems for the Defense industry.
These systems are employed in testing facilities to provide the flight behavior of supersonic targets through very high frame rate videos. They are extremely precise measuring and calibration instruments, having on one hand a very high optical quality and on the other, a mechanical stiffness capable to survive high dynamic stresses.

This type of instrumentation has multiple uses, from the most classic products used for the characterization and development of ballistic targets, to the most modern applications related to safety and Direct Energy technologies.
