Officina Stellare subsidiary ThinkQuantum signs new contract with Thales Alenia Space for ESA SAGA

We’re proud to announce a major achievement for ThinkQuantum, Officina Stellare’s subsidiary, which signs a new contract with Thales Alenia Space for the ESA SAGA program.
The €4.8M agreement will enable the development of advanced transmission and reception systems for satellite quantum communications, strengthening Europe’s secure connectivity infrastructure.
ThinkQuantum will lead the quantum cryptography technology for both ground and space segments, marking a significant step in its international positioning.
“Following the successful deployment of ThinkQuantum’s commercial systems for terrestrial networks across Europe, the agreement within ESA’s SAGA project strengthens the company’s position as a leading technology provider in quantum communications for space applications”, says Simone Capeleto, CEO and Co-Founder of ThinkQuantum. “Our unique expertise across both domains, combined with synergies with the Officina Stellare Group, enables us to deliver increasingly integrated solutions bridging ground and space.”
This milestone reinforces Officina Stellare’s Group commitment to innovation and sovereignty in the New Space Economy.
Officina Stellare signs new contract with Leonardo S.p.A. for high-resolution optical systems

Officina Stellare secures a major contract with Leonardo for the supply of an initial series of optical assemblies for Leonardo’s high-resolution space telescopes for Earth Observation from low Earth orbit.
These advanced optical sensors are also intended for integration within Leonardo’s proprietary satellite constellation, one of the most comprehensive and significant Earth Observation programs in Europe.
The contract, valued at approximately €9.2 million over three years, includes not only the development of cutting-edge optical assemblies, but also engineering activities for the industrialization of large-scale integration processes. The first flight model is already being delivered for #PLATiNO3, a mission led by the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI).
This milestone reinforces the long-standing partnership between Leonardo and Officina Stellare, while confirming our leadership in the design and production of multi-mission optics and payloads for Earth Observation.
“Strengthening national strategic capabilities in the space sector relies, now more than ever, on the synergy among key players in the supply chain. In line with this vision, this new contract sees us once again alongside Leonardo—an international excellence—as an active partner in one of Europe’s most innovative private space programs,” says Gino Bucciol, Head of Strategy at Officina Stellare.
High-resolution optical systems represent just one of the enabling technologies for Leonardo’s future satellite constellation—a project that entrusts Officina Stellare with a leading role in both the production and large-scale industrialization of one of the core components of Leonardo’s optical systems. The quantity, production pace, and timelines will be critical to meeting and overcoming the global challenges posed by new Earth Observation satellite constellations. It’s an ambitious challenge we are proud to embrace.”
